Within Her Grasp, 2024

Photographic prints, repurposed trap lumber, rope

20” x 44”

This piece is meant to emulate the flux between clarity and uncertainty that I feel in relation to my future in the lobster fishing industry. There is a duality when it comes to existing in the space - an ever-present feeling that I am both where I am meant to be and that if things were slightly different I would not be here at all. It depicts the possibility of alternate outcomes/realities through the mirrored left image. I situate myself in between these two photographs, as though I were on the deck of the boat, thinking about what is, what could have been, and what could be.
